Fundraiser makes £17,000 for MNDA!

27/06/2012

There may be no Glastonbury Festival this year, but two Framptons Limited employees held their own event at Worthy Farm in Pilton on Saturday 16th June, to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Caroline Burgess, Marketing Co-ordinator, and Emma Frampton, Marketing Assistant, at Shepton based food manufacturer Framptons, organised the event in memory of the company’s chairman, Clive Frampton, who passed away in March this year after a battle with motor neurone disease.

The event, titled Fundraiser on the Farm, saw more than 300 people enjoy an evening of live music, alongside a fundraising auction, and a raffle drawn by special guest Michael Eavis.

Whilst the total figure is yet to be announced, the event has raised more than £17,000 for the MNDA. The charity funds research into motor neurone disease, for which there is currently no cure or substantial treatment, and also helps sufferers of MND and their families.

Emma Frampton, Clive’s daughter, said: “We decided to host the event to help the MNDA continue their vital work. As motor neurone disease is quite rare, the Association receives much less funding than many charities focusing on other diseases such as cancer.”

Due to the success of Fundraiser on the Farm, Emma and Caroline hope to organise a similar event next year, where they will aim to beat the total amount raised.

Caroline Burgess said: “We are very grateful to Michael Eavis for allowing us to use Worthy Farm as our venue, and also to Phil Miller for his help in organising the event. We have been overwhelmed by the generous support of all the companies and individuals who donated prizes for our raffle and auction, and those who attended the event and helped us raise a significant amount of money for the MNDA. We’d also like to say a big thank you to Framptons Limited for funding the majority of outgoings for the event, which means we were able to raise more money for the MNDA.”
